Outline/Script

     Hello everyone welcome back to my blog, I hope all of you are having a splendid Sunday. I will continue to discuss my film opening project. Today is very different than other days as today I will no being to talk about the scripting and outline. This has been one of the longest processes for me because I am trying to get it as fluid and as natural as possible but it sometimes just feels as if I am scripting it too much, but I will continue to further improve and work on the outline/script until I feel that it is at the best state possible. 

This is the script, for now, there is room for many changes and I will continue to brainstorm and figure out other ideas to see if I want to add to the script. The script is has a good foundation and I don't think there will be any drastic changes to the script but who knows, time will only tell. This script pertains to much of the storyboard and a little addition into the storyboard. The script has the dialogue on what Elena will say during the opening credits of the film opening scene and what she will say once the film opening starts.

Story Boarding

    Good afternoon every welcome back to my blog portfolio, I hope you have all been well and are ready to hear my ideas. Today I will present to you all my storyboard and my whole idea of the beginning of the scene and how it will take place. I have told you all in another blog I created called the Story's Beginning but now I will be giving you all visuals on how it looks. I am going to say it in advance, I am sorry for my drawings I am not very artistic. Now to present my storyboard.

    Here is my storyboard, I will continue to discuss the ideas and overall complexion of this first scene. So in the first little box, I want the camera to come from a high angle and show both the house and HeartAttack. I want this first box to show the audience where the first killing is taking place and the scenery of the location. Then I want for the camera to transition slowly into a Point of View shot to reveal HeartAttack looking down towards his mask and really analyzing it. In this shot, the audience would have been able to see all of the details and markings on the masks that HeartAttack created. Then the camera would use a tilt to then look upwards and look through the window of the house, and here will be the first time the audience and HeartAttack see the first victim. The camera would then move into the house and this is where the first victim will be presented and this is where she will continue to show the audience how conceded she is. The camera will then transition back outside to an over-the-shoulder shot where HeartAttack will begin to hear the voices of his dead daughter Elena, she will continue to provoke him to go inside and kill the victim, also this will be the first time that HearAttack will begin to hear the heartbeat of the victim. The camera will then use a pan from an over-the-shoulder shot to a medium/close shot to show HeartAttack putting on his mask. The audience will not see his face whatsoever. Then the camera will jump back to the girl's room and it will be kind of a long shot but will mainly focus on HeartAttack, the girl will be on one side of the camera shot will HeartAttack will be on the other side. She will then proceed to say she feels as if someone is watching her and will go out to look at her window and there will be nothing there. This part will be shot at a Point of view angle.

    At the beginning of this I want to put a black screen which the audience will hear the voice of Elena laughing and giggling and telling her dad that she loves him so much, but then as the credits begin to roll and she would go from happy to very sad to then suicidal. This would then end with her saying "daddy I love you" in a very menacing tone, and then the title will be shown and a quick jump cut to the beginning of the scene. 

    This is what I have been planning and what I have at the moment I want to continue to add more things into the storyboard and script but right now this is my main idea, and the whole type of structure I am going to create for this first scene, I don't think much will change but this is how I am envisioning the first scene. Preparation For Filming

    Good morning everyone today I hope everyone is having a fantastic day. Today I will begin the preparation for filming. I am very excited to finally be in the position that I am in, I have so many emotions running through my mind and adrenaline running through my body. 

    I have finally figured out a name for my slasher, his name will be HeartAttack. I believe this name is very suitable for my character as Valentine's Day is about heart and love and this just fits his persona and his symbol of attacking people's hearts on Valentine's Day. I have also had many ideas for the title of the film and I believe I might title the film opening Happy Love Day, I feel like it is a simple but very impactful title. A menacing font will be added and will create that title to look twisted and evil, but I still need to figure out what font I am going to use.

    I have finally created the mask that will represent my character HeartAttack. It is a chrome mask that is smiling, but there is a twist to it. There have been added some drawings and writing to the mask to make it more suitable for Valentine's Day and I believe it gives it a great touch but I still might add some more designs so I get that perfect mask I have in my mind. 

    I added the letter E at the bottom of the chin to represent the death of his daughter and ultimately what drives him to commit these murders. I also added the stream from the eyes to signify his pain and crying but it is now blood that he is looking for and revenge. The heart at the forehead is just there for Valentine's Day as for is the XO. I still am looking for a little more inspiration for the mask so I can continue to add details and make it as scary as I possibly can. The whole outfit of HeartAttack is coming along I think that he might wear a red hoodie with some black cargo pants and black military boots or some sort of boots. I believe that HeartAttack should wear some sort of boots because, after watching the newest movie Halloween (2018), the sound that boots make and the squeak is very intimidating and adds a sense of fear to the audience. I was going to make him wear a black hoodie but I believe that it is so basic as many slashers wear these dark colors, so I choose red to stand out. Also, I choose red for the deeper meaning that the color has, it will have a double meaning since on Valentine's Day it means to love but for him, it will mean anger and rage. It will signify punishment and blood that is what he is going to symbolize while he wears red. HeartAttack will be somewhat of a classic slasher as he will use his stealth and his agility to get to his victims, but he will own a very special power that will be very different.

    I have decided to give HeartAttack the ability to be able will be able to hear the heartbeat of his victims, but this will depend on how much fear he strikes into his victim. So in the beginning when he selects the person that he will punish, he will hear the heartbeat very faint and slowly but as they begin to become more afraid, the heartbeat will get louder and louder. As the heartbeat increases in speed, the sound of the heartbeat will increase. HeartAttack will use this to navigate his victims if they try to hide or run away from him. Although this ability seems to be very powerful, there is a rule to it. The victim that he has selected can only hear their heartbeat and will not stop hearing their heartbeat until HeartAttack ends their lives. I believe this will be a great addition as it adds a little supernatural to the classic slasher film. This is what is probably and most likely going to be how the slasher of the film opening is going to be, but there could always be changes to his persona or ability. The Process Will Commence Shortly

    Good Afternoon everyone, hope all is well. Today I will be discussing many topics on my film opening and will inform everyone how everything has been going. Today I have a full-on commitment to making the slasher film, it might have been apparent that I was since I didn't make an add-on to the idea of Supernatural but this is my official confirmation that I will be making a Slasher film. It feels like a lot of relief because at the beginning of this Portfolio project I did not know what I wanted to do but now I have got my idea and am really focusing on creating one of the best horror film openings. 

    I have already created a schedule for my filming the film opening I will now create the process of editing. Since I will end up finishing the filming by 18th, from the 19th of March- April 1st I plan on editing what was filmed. Since I am not a talented editor I have planned myself with extra time so that in any case scenario I will have more than enough time to finish editing and turn my film opening in on time. Just like my film schedule, I will do nearly the same, but instead of 2-3 times a week filming I will actually be editing 3-4 times a week because I know how complex and time-costly editing takes. As well as I know what parts I want to focus upon to make look the best. 

    The whole entire 2-minute film opening is being thought about even though on my previous blog I already told you all how the beginning of the film opening was going to start. I will further continue to brainstorm and figure out how I want the slasher to enter the house and how I want the first scene to take place. I have an idea of how the slasher would enter the house but I do not know how I want to integrate it into the film opening. I believe that I will make the slasher go through a back sliding door in the home of the schoolgirl. This might sound cliche but for some reason, I have experienced myself, many people accidentally leave the back sliding door open. The camera will then follow the slasher as if the camera was filming the slasher like a documentary. The rest of the scene is still being thought upon but next week will most likely give all detail and information. 

    Although I have not created yet an official shot list, the shots that I will utilize will range from close-ups, long shots, medium shots, establishing shots, over-the-shoulder, two shot, low-angle shot, high-angle shot, point of view shot, and maybe some extreme close-ups. Since my film will not focus too much on dialogue I will focus on these shots to be one of the biggest attributes of my film opening. They will need to be flawless so that they can create that sense of suspense and horror. 

    For now, this is what I am working on and what I will continue to work on for the next few weeks. I will keep you all on alert about what is happening and what changes I have made. Thank you for your time see you all on the next blog.

    

The Story's Beginning

    Hello, welcome back my fellow viewers, today I will be discussing the script of the film opening itself and the beginning of the opening scene. In my film opening, there won't be very much talking as I really want to capture the sound of silence and the sudden sounds to create that sensation of fear. This in turn will make the sound that more thrilling and exciting to hear.

    The beginning of the film will show the film opening and creates, it will also have a lot of joyful laughs and people in the background telling each other they love one another. This is where the film title and the opening credits will be displayed, but then the scene will take a sound jump cut towards the beginning of the action. The father/slasher, still no name working on that, will look down at his mask. The camera will take full focus on the mask and the details which are written on the mask. The slasher is standing right outside the house of his first victim of the film. Inspired by the movie Friday the 13th and the character Jason Voorhees, a background voice will be heard of the daughter who will be motivating the father.

    Elena will be at first seeing her innocent laughs and happiness, but as time goes on by her laugh will become more menacing and it will all become darker. She will then begin to whisper, 

    "Daddy, Daddy,"

    "Daddy I know you see the way she is acting and how she is too good for everyone one"

    "She is the type of girl that killed me, those girls should be punished!" 

    "End them so that they don't kill me again."

    The camera will then shift from the slasher looking at his mask to him looking up and looking through the window of the girl.

    She will then begin to read out loud all of the cards and notes she received from Valentine's Day and will be very cocky and very conceited. This will not only enrage the slasher more but will be the motive to begin his rampage. The camera will have her in her room at a higher angle doing her make-up while the audience is able to see through her window that the slasher is there staring at her from her front porch. This will cause a lot of suspense as the audience will notice this scene but will not understand if they are meant to know or not. The camera will then move to her again as she accidentally messes up but it will go back to its previous location and the slasher will not be found. 

    This is the beginning of the film opening and I believe there is not very much dialogue in this film opening because I have a philosophy which is to make a great horror movie it needs to focus on the camera techniques, the sound, and the editing to make it great. Dialogue is just a bonus if there can be helpful dialogue. Overall, this will be the beginning of the film opening and I will continue to further brainstorm and revise my ideas. Costume Design and Character

    Good afternoon everyone hopes you're having a great day, and welcome back to my blog post. Today we will be continuing our portfolio project and the film opening scene. After conducting further research, I have to figure out my slasher motive and their background story. 

    My slasher still does not have a name because I am trying to find the perfect name for him, but as I revealed he will be a man because I believe in this film opening I do not own the luxury to have a woman as I already have some playing the victim scene. The slasher will be rather on the shorter side and will actually be a father but this is where the backstory starts to come in and why he began. 

    The slasher was an ordinary man who had an amazing wife and family. He only had one child with the wife and they both immensely loved their daughter, on the outside they seemed to be the perfect family but behind closed doors, they were very flawed. The father was rather more protective over her 16-year-old daughter, as that was their only child. He would sometimes look through her phone without her consent and would communicate with her teachers and supervisors. He felt as if he always needed to know what to do. This gave a lot of hate for 16-year-old Elena, everyone hated her because her father would snitch to other parents on what their children did. Everyone thought it was Elena but it was actually her father. Despite the hate, she received she still went out and tried to make friends and live her life. Unfortunately on February 14, everything turned for the worse. After numerous occasions of kids getting in trouble and punished the entire school ended up sending Elena hate cards, and even death threats. Elena has always battled with depression because she always felt like she didn't fit in and because nobody wanted to be her friend. These cause of events caused Elena to end up taking her own life.

    This hit the mother and the father very hard, both of them were depressed and did not know what to do with their own lives. They ended up losing both of their jobs and the father ended up losing all of his money and his own house. The wife left the father and went to move on her own home, but she also ended up taking her own life she could not stand the pain anymore. This left the father all by himself to live in this world where he thought was hell. Both the parents never knew why Elena died, until the father found all of the death threats and cards that the students wrote her on Valentine's Day. This drove him insane and all he had on his mind was ending the life of those who threatened his daughter. 

   

    His father then went on a search for all of the kids and brutally murdered all of the students who ended up giving her a card, even those who didn't write their names he still found who participated. This did not give him satisfaction but every time he on Valentine's Day he became more powerful and his intelligence increased after he killed on Valentine's Day, this is why he continues to murder on Valentine's Day. I still don't know all of the specifications but this is the main idea for the background and the beginning of the film opening. 

    The father himself will be wearing some type of clothes with a large knife but the mask is still in debate. He is either going to wear a devil mask or he is going to wear a sinister ghost face mask.

    The father will wear an outfit of all black, the pants will be some sort of cargo pants, the top is going to be something like a hoodie, and the shoes will be black boots. This is what the man look for the father will be still trying to finish up his final look.

Where The Fun Begins

    Welcome back everyone, I hope you all have had an amazing weekend and ready to hear more about my film opening. Today is not just an ordinary day, we are actually going to begin the process of planning out my film opening and begin to create scenes throughout the week. I have made a decision and will continue with a slasher film opening. When I envisioned my horror film opening more of slasher film but with fiction elements, and while conducting further research I came to a conclusion that a supernatural film opening isn't the right one for me. I just do not have the equipment or the editing skill to truly make an amazing film opening, and the slasher film works more with the camera techniques and sound which I am looking forward to utilizing.  

    I will begin the process of filming very soon. I have created a set schedule to when I will film and the times when I will film. The filming process will begin on March 4 as by that time I would have already finished planning my film and have a solid idea of what I want to film, then 2-3 times a week I will go out to film with my friends and family. Each time I film my goal is going to be to get at least more than an hour of filming. The days during the week would be most likely Monday, Wednesday and Thursday as these are the days when I am not extremely busy. Also these are the days when the actors in the film and I are not in a busy schedule. My plan is to have finished filming by the 18th of March so that it will give me time to go through and edit the film to perfection. I would like to begin filming from 6:30 and through the sun down because I feel like most of the scary movie moments are during this time frame. 

    One of my plans to begin the film opening will be outside of someone's house and it will look all nice and beautiful until the sun begins to which as the sun goes down the evil and horror begins to show at the night time. Once the sun finally sets the slasher will make his appearance which he will be shown and later through the night he will began his slashing.

    I feel like this would be the best way to begin the film because it makes the perfectly symbolizes the how through the night time people and things change, the night time changes people. This is an idea to beginning the opening scene. This is also where the film credits will be shown and the title of the film opening. I still have to choose the font and the title of the name but those will be known later on. 

    As of right now this is the planned beginning of the film will be and where the credits will be presented. In the next blog I will discuss the outfit and how the slasher is going to be like and his motive. Bye I will see you all on the next blog, have a great day!
