Group Discussion

 Hello everyone nice to have you all back again in my blog post, I hope you are all having a wonderful day. I just participated in a very intriguing class period with my peers.  

    In class today, our teacher told us we had some time to discuss with our fellow class members to talk about our film openings and give back some feedback. I am going to say that some of my classmates are very brilliant and have very great ideas for their film opening. We were all separated into groups of 5 and had around 45 minutes to describe our ideas and give feedback to those ideas. 

    I was the first one out of my group to present my ideas forth. I told them everything and all my ideas that I posted on the blogs and other sneak peek ideas. My classmates were actually very impressed with the idea for my slasher film opening, they loved the idea of it being a twist instead of being like a typical scary day like Halloween it was Valentine's day. They also said they loved the supernatural power that my character HeartAttack had. For the most part, they all loved the idea and thought that it was a very great twist to the stereotypical slasher film.

    Although I did receive a lot of good feedback about my ideas, I also did receive some criticism. One of my classmates saw what I had done on my storyboard, and he was very impressed with the idea but he thought that I needed to focus on something to really display because my storyboard had a lot of things going on and he believed that I might run out of time if I continue to go with how much I was planning. He mostly told me to watch out with the timing because I might go over the limit and not have a focus on what I truly want to display. Another classmate told me that I had to figure out where I was going to put the beginning film credits because it was very necessary and I hadn't really thought of that. These critics were very helpful in me actually focusing on the things I needed to do instead of focusing on other topics of my film opening.

    I am very glad that my teacher let us have this time to discuss these ideas, it brought me a lot of realization and it also gave me some inspiration for my films. I believe that these group discussions truly help with us going forth in this project, it helps us look at what we are doing good and if we are stuck find opportunities. I think we should continue to do these group discussions because it does not only benefit me but also helps a lot of other class members. Equipment and utilities

    Hey good evening fellow bloggers, I hope you all have had a wonderful day and are ready to read my blog. Today is a very different day and is a day where I will be telling you all what equipment I will be using for the moment. I do not own that much filming equipment but I am willing to spend for a better quality opening scene.

    As of right now, I have for equipment-wise an iPhone 11 which I will be filming the main parts of my film opening but I am trying to see if my aunt from Kansas could send me here Canon camera which would be amazing. It the latest Canon camera to come out and the pictures and videos. She also owns a variety of sets of lenses which could help for many different camera angles and shots. This could step up my filming skills and really show off the ideas I have in my head for this film. Hopefully, she allows me to borrow the camera it would truly be amazing. If not, I still have my iPhone which is really good quality but does not compare to the Canon camera.

    

    As for physical equipment, I also just received my tripod the one I was talking about in the previous blogs. I believe this will help me massively for some shots that I have in my head. It will also allow for me to take some shots without needing to instruct a different person on the way I want to film the scene. It took pretty long to get here but it finally did. This is very useful as I can really just set it up anywhere and everywhere and I could just begin shooting without having to worry, but I will still need another person to help me with certain shots because the tripod can't move. That is the only downside I see with the tripod but not everything is flawless.

    For editing, I will be utilizing Imovie to put the clips together and really arrange the sound to how I want it and create the movie. I am still trying to look for some type of editing software so I can create some somethings that I want to create. I will ask my teacher for some guidance and what software is the best to use. But as of right now I currently do not know what editing software I will use. Imovie is great for some simple things of editing but I will mainly use it to rearrange the clips and put them to the way I want them. For the sound of the movie I am trying to contact many owners of the sound to see if I will be able to use it, I will notify you all if I am able to use the sounds I want to. 

    This is really what I have as of right now, even though it might not seem to be that much it is how someone utilizes the equipment that makes the film. But I really hope everything goes well and I am able to use everything I truly want to because if I could, this film could really turn into something good. Location

    Hello everyone I hope you are having a splendid day today. Today I will be talking about where I am going to film the opening scene of this project.

    I have talked with the owner of the property and I have tried to convince them if I could shoot my project on their property. Unfortunately, I was unable to convince them, they said they had to do more renovations and it would take them about a month or so to finish up the entire place. Although it is a place I really wanted to film, there was always a backup to where I was going to film. I knew it was going to be a 50/50 with the first option but my second option is just as good. I will be filming in a neighborhood where my little cousin actually lives. She lives in this house with her family. I thought it would be the perfect setting to film this location as it is a two-story house and there are many houses nearby. 

    After doing some research I believe that using a two-story house is the best type of house to use for my film opening. I believe this because it makes the scene more suspenseful as when the victim is upstairs there is only one safe option for the victim to escape and that is by going down the stairs and out the front door. Also, these houses tend to be more spacious and bigger than smaller houses which means that the slashers can enter these houses more than they can enter a one-story house. The reason why I chose my little cousin's house is that she lives in this type of gated community where there are a lot of houses around here, so I wanted to create that idea of her feeling safer around in the house because the community is gated and there are many surrounding houses. I feel like this would create more suspense as many people believe that if you are surrounded by many other people you are safer. This would mean that many people would not be as precautious as they would be if they were by themselves. This then would inturn strike more fear and suspense to my film rather than a secluded house in the wilderness.

     I believe that this place would make people believe that the victim is safe and they won't worry for her as much, and then it would create great fear and suspense when the slasher enters the house and kills her. This is why I chose this location rather than a house that is just alone by itself because the audience would already know something bad is going to happen. I am very glad that I at least got two of my top options-approved because I feel if I had to go with the third option it would not be how I envisioned my film opening. Actors

   Good evening everyone, hope you guys are having a wonderful day. Welcome back to my blog, today I will be talking about the actors that will be starring in my film opening.

    I will have some actors that will help me in the process of filming the opening scene. I will use my little cousin who is around the age of the girl I want the first victim to be. As well as she is also a great candidate for the way she dresses which is the style more trending in that age group. I will also ask for one of her friends to join the film opening if she wants to, but still, I am not sure that if she will join. Will notify you all if she does indeed join. These two would fit the role perfectly as they are very close to each other and I want that fluid conversation which they can give to me. They always talk to each other so it would be second nature for the both of them. This will then provide for the film opening to be more realistic and not feel as if it were scripted because a problem I've seen with my other projects is that the dialogue sounds too scripted at times.

 

    As of right now I am questioning who will fit the role the best for HeartAttack because I want to play the character but I also have to film the scenes, it has been very tricky but I will let you all know what my idea will be. I feel that I should be able to play as HeartAttack and film maybe I will ask a friend of mine to help me out with the filming. Although I am still figuring this out my little cousin is confirmed to play the role of the teenage victim in the film. 

    I will also try to find out where the location will take place, I have an idea where but I am not sure I will have the permission to film the scenes there. Outline/Script

     Hello everyone welcome back to my blog, I hope all of you are having a splendid Sunday. I will continue to discuss my film opening project. Today is very different than other days as today I will no being to talk about the scripting and outline. This has been one of the longest processes for me because I am trying to get it as fluid and as natural as possible but it sometimes just feels as if I am scripting it too much, but I will continue to further improve and work on the outline/script until I feel that it is at the best state possible. 

This is the script, for now, there is room for many changes and I will continue to brainstorm and figure out other ideas to see if I want to add to the script. The script is has a good foundation and I don't think there will be any drastic changes to the script but who knows, time will only tell. This script pertains to much of the storyboard and a little addition into the storyboard. The script has the dialogue on what Elena will say during the opening credits of the film opening scene and what she will say once the film opening starts.

Story Boarding

    Good afternoon every welcome back to my blog portfolio, I hope you have all been well and are ready to hear my ideas. Today I will present to you all my storyboard and my whole idea of the beginning of the scene and how it will take place. I have told you all in another blog I created called the Story's Beginning but now I will be giving you all visuals on how it looks. I am going to say it in advance, I am sorry for my drawings I am not very artistic. Now to present my storyboard.

    Here is my storyboard, I will continue to discuss the ideas and overall complexion of this first scene. So in the first little box, I want the camera to come from a high angle and show both the house and HeartAttack. I want this first box to show the audience where the first killing is taking place and the scenery of the location. Then I want for the camera to transition slowly into a Point of View shot to reveal HeartAttack looking down towards his mask and really analyzing it. In this shot, the audience would have been able to see all of the details and markings on the masks that HeartAttack created. Then the camera would use a tilt to then look upwards and look through the window of the house, and here will be the first time the audience and HeartAttack see the first victim. The camera would then move into the house and this is where the first victim will be presented and this is where she will continue to show the audience how conceded she is. The camera will then transition back outside to an over-the-shoulder shot where HeartAttack will begin to hear the voices of his dead daughter Elena, she will continue to provoke him to go inside and kill the victim, also this will be the first time that HearAttack will begin to hear the heartbeat of the victim. The camera will then use a pan from an over-the-shoulder shot to a medium/close shot to show HeartAttack putting on his mask. The audience will not see his face whatsoever. Then the camera will jump back to the girl's room and it will be kind of a long shot but will mainly focus on HeartAttack, the girl will be on one side of the camera shot will HeartAttack will be on the other side. She will then proceed to say she feels as if someone is watching her and will go out to look at her window and there will be nothing there. This part will be shot at a Point of view angle.

    At the beginning of this I want to put a black screen which the audience will hear the voice of Elena laughing and giggling and telling her dad that she loves him so much, but then as the credits begin to roll and she would go from happy to very sad to then suicidal. This would then end with her saying "daddy I love you" in a very menacing tone, and then the title will be shown and a quick jump cut to the beginning of the scene. 

    This is what I have been planning and what I have at the moment I want to continue to add more things into the storyboard and script but right now this is my main idea, and the whole type of structure I am going to create for this first scene, I don't think much will change but this is how I am envisioning the first scene. Preparation For Filming

    Good morning everyone today I hope everyone is having a fantastic day. Today I will begin the preparation for filming. I am very excited to finally be in the position that I am in, I have so many emotions running through my mind and adrenaline running through my body. 

    I have finally figured out a name for my slasher, his name will be HeartAttack. I believe this name is very suitable for my character as Valentine's Day is about heart and love and this just fits his persona and his symbol of attacking people's hearts on Valentine's Day. I have also had many ideas for the title of the film and I believe I might title the film opening Happy Love Day, I feel like it is a simple but very impactful title. A menacing font will be added and will create that title to look twisted and evil, but I still need to figure out what font I am going to use.

    I have finally created the mask that will represent my character HeartAttack. It is a chrome mask that is smiling, but there is a twist to it. There have been added some drawings and writing to the mask to make it more suitable for Valentine's Day and I believe it gives it a great touch but I still might add some more designs so I get that perfect mask I have in my mind. 

    I added the letter E at the bottom of the chin to represent the death of his daughter and ultimately what drives him to commit these murders. I also added the stream from the eyes to signify his pain and crying but it is now blood that he is looking for and revenge. The heart at the forehead is just there for Valentine's Day as for is the XO. I still am looking for a little more inspiration for the mask so I can continue to add details and make it as scary as I possibly can. The whole outfit of HeartAttack is coming along I think that he might wear a red hoodie with some black cargo pants and black military boots or some sort of boots. I believe that HeartAttack should wear some sort of boots because, after watching the newest movie Halloween (2018), the sound that boots make and the squeak is very intimidating and adds a sense of fear to the audience. I was going to make him wear a black hoodie but I believe that it is so basic as many slashers wear these dark colors, so I choose red to stand out. Also, I choose red for the deeper meaning that the color has, it will have a double meaning since on Valentine's Day it means to love but for him, it will mean anger and rage. It will signify punishment and blood that is what he is going to symbolize while he wears red. HeartAttack will be somewhat of a classic slasher as he will use his stealth and his agility to get to his victims, but he will own a very special power that will be very different.

    I have decided to give HeartAttack the ability to be able will be able to hear the heartbeat of his victims, but this will depend on how much fear he strikes into his victim. So in the beginning when he selects the person that he will punish, he will hear the heartbeat very faint and slowly but as they begin to become more afraid, the heartbeat will get louder and louder. As the heartbeat increases in speed, the sound of the heartbeat will increase. HeartAttack will use this to navigate his victims if they try to hide or run away from him. Although this ability seems to be very powerful, there is a rule to it. The victim that he has selected can only hear their heartbeat and will not stop hearing their heartbeat until HeartAttack ends their lives. I believe this will be a great addition as it adds a little supernatural to the classic slasher film. This is what is probably and most likely going to be how the slasher of the film opening is going to be, but there could always be changes to his persona or ability.
